Essential Android Applications for Travelers

In recent past years we have seen the rise of smart phones. These phones are curse for some as you can receive nagging work emails anywhere and bliss for some, as they have thousands of applications to download. Google is activating thousands of application everyday for their Android mobile OS. So here is the list of the travel specific applications, which you will love to have in your phone.

Google Goggles

One of the best Android applications for travelers, Google Goggles recognizes places and objects, without you manually typing it in the search bar. So all you need to do is turn on the application, point your phone camera, click a picture and get all the information about the object, place or an attraction.

WeatherBug

WeatherBug is another cool application for Android phones, which brings accurate, trustworthy and timely weather news. You can search for weather updates, forecasts, maps and alerts on any country or city. So you can decide to carry your umbrella or not before you step out of your hotel room.

Yelp

This is my favorite application, Yelp determines your location and then it fetches you the information on local businesses in the surrounding area like hotels, restaurants, pubs and clubs. Along with the information you will also get the rating and comments, so you can pick the best place to dine or grab a drink or 2.

Flight Tracks

Flight Tracks gives you real time information on flights worldwide. It will inform you about all the delays, arrival, departure and gate information of your flight. Along with all these information the application also offers zoom able maps so you can track your flight. So just go ahead and find London Flights, New York Flights or any other destination instantly.

Google Maps

Perhaps the most downloaded and used application on Android phones, one of the best applications for travelers to navigate through new cities.

Talk to me

It is one of the coolest applications I come across on Android for speech translation. You can translate English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Mandarin just by recording the voice.

You can skip to the end and leave a response. Pinging is currently not allowed.
